At the age of 11, he came up with what would be his performing name – he
was studying game design, used the gaming engine known as “Unreal Engine”
to create his soon to be video games and had his username as “Unreal
Lincoln”. Lincoln moved around as a boy and teen between South Africa and
the United Arab Emirates, mostly going to school in Abu Dhabi. It was
constant struggle with anxiety and depression as he was going on with his
life. “It was hell, but you have to eventually accept your demons and
carry them with you when you move forward with your life”.
Lincoln became absolutely enveloped by the world of Kanye West and Kid
Cudi’s music. “I think I was looking for a father figure and related to
what they were trying to say so I looked at them as that because their
music and what they were talking about was similar to what I was feeling
and going through at the time. So I heard on The College Dropout by Kanye
that he made beats at first before he started rapping so I was like damn,
I should make beats too. Then I heard Man On The Moon by Cudi and I
decided to start making my own songs when I turned 14.”
Lincoln started releasing beats to the public in 2016 on the platform
Beatstars and on YouTube. As he continued his career as a producer, he
joined the label known as Darkmello Recordings in 2018 and recently
released his debut single “Hate Letter” through them. Make sure if you’re
not already a fan to look out for his upcoming debut EP “Bipolar” and
future releases!
